Many fisherman run into a problem when they try to identify the fish they may have caught that day. It is important to know what kind of fish you caught because most areas have rules and regulations that govern what fish you can keep and which ones you must release. The are a couple of good ways to identify your catch. Some of the best ways to identify your catch is.
You can easily narrow down the type of fish by the type of water as well as the coastal area you are fishing. Many fisherman who fish a new area will do a quick online search to see what kind of fish they may encounter. Jot down a few notes regarding some of the features in the fish generally caught in that area. Once you have caught the fish you can use some of the fish’s features to help identify your catch. Start by looking at the overall length of the fish. Next make a note of the girth. Some other important markers are skin texture and of course the skin color. Note the shape of the fish as well. Certain shapes will make the fish easier to identify.
