How To Tie The Classic Wooly Bugger Lure

Learning to tie the classic Wooly Bugger lure is easy. You need a hook, marabou feather, hackle, chenille, head cement, needle, scissors, hackle pliers, thread and a fly-tying vice.

Clamp hook curve in the vice. Start wrapping thread upwards from middle of hook shank until it’s in line with hook point.

Place marabou over wrapped thread so the extended tail is the length you want. Tie on by wrapping thread tightly around it 3 times. Clip off excess feather.

Place chenille strip along the marabou and wrap end with thread 3 times. Wind thread downwards to the hook eye. Read the rest of this entry »
